Natural and Biodynamic Wine

Looking for the best recommendations and sharing favorites of natural and biodynamic wines! Even better if they’re vegan, I know some wines use egg when refining their wines, but there’s a clay alternative that’s more animal friendly.

You’re probably thinking of bentonite clay—it’s pretty common in natural wines now. Anything from Broc Cellars or Donkey & Goat is usually vegan and super clean.

Love that you brought this up. I just had a pét-nat from Les Capriades that was unfiltered and totally wild. Pretty sure it was vegan too—no additives at all.

Try Coturri. It’s super low intervention and fully organic. Doesn’t taste like “hippie wine,” either. Just good stuff.

I’ve had good luck with anything imported by Jenny & Francois or Louis/Dressner. They carry a bunch of small producers that tick all those boxes—natural, biodynamic, often vegan.

Anyone tried Martha Stoumen wines? They’re natural and super approachable. Not funky in a scary way.

I’ve noticed a lot of pét-nats are vegan just by default since they don’t fine or filter them.

Kindeli out of New Zealand makes great natural wine. Their orange wine is vegan and actually tastes like peaches and spice.

Don’t sleep on Portuguese natural reds either. Niepoort has some that are low-intervention and surprisingly easy to find.

Isabelle Legeron’s RAW Wine guide is a great resource if you want to go deeper. It’s like the punk rock side of wine.
